“Glastonbury is excited to be a part of the Solarize Program . We look forward to working with Astrum Solar, Smartpower, CEFIA and most importantly our residents to increase the use of residential solar PV systems through the cost effective Solarize program. Thanks to CEFIA and Smartpower for inviting Glastonbury to participate in Solarize Glastonbury.”
- Richard Johnson, Glastonbury Town Manager
- Strong Economic Benefits
Glastonbury residents Rich and Nancy Connell signed a contract for a 6.75 kW solar array:
“Going solar just seems like the right thing to do. It is helping our family gain a better understanding of environmental stewardship and the visible nature of the panels will send a positive message to others in the community. We anticipate that our system will provide us with just over 50% of our electrical needs, which will have strong economic benefits. It also has us beginning to think differently about the power that we use, which I suspect will reap greater benefits both for our family and the environment. We are purchasing our system. We are taking advantage of a 0% loan against the Federal Tax Credit.
“The Town of Glastonbury’s endorsement of Solarize was a major enabler for us to go solar. While we had thought about solar, their efforts in coordinating the program took the hurtles away. Astrum has really been terrific to work with. We would absolutely recommend Solarize to everyone.”
- Significantly Reducing Costs
“We signed a contract for a 3.5 kW system with Astrum Solar. Every day I think about my children’s future and everything that I can do to help protect against climate change. We will be significantly reducing our electricity costs and expect an 8.5 year pay-off on this investment. Tax credits and CEFIA Grants help cover more than 50% of our cost. The Solarize process also included an energy audit that provided low-wattage light bulbs, professional caulking & installation of weather stripping, further helping with our energy conservation and cost reduction.
“Having the purchase power of a town program, and town-sponsored background research and information sessions made this transition easy. I hope the town extends the program for a longer time period. ASG has shown exemplary customer support and has been a pleasure to work with. I would recommend Solarize Glastonbury to my friends and neighbors; the group rate with the town program, and current state grants and federal tax credits make this a terrific time to invest in solar panels.”
- We Could Not Be Happier
“We had installed a 22 panel 15.1Kw solar system which became fully functional in March 2013. Since that time my electric bills have been reduced between 60%-65%. It has been completely maintenance free, and virtually invisible in our lives. My anticipated return on investment is about 6-7 years. Laurene and I could not be happier, and actually look forward to opening our electric bills. I also look forward to the day I can have an electric car in the garage fueled by the sun. I greatly encourage anyone interested in a solar system to do some homework and realize how advantageous it is.”
